FirstEnergy Powerhouse
Home to the Greater Cleveland Aquarium and
Windows on the River
The FirstEnergy Powerhouse at the Nautica Entertainment Complex is a former power station transformed into a state-of-the-art aquarium, banquet facility and outdoor concert venue, surrounded by restaurants, a comedy club, office space and apartments. The FirstEnergy Powerhouse sits along the Cuyahoga River, next to Jacobs Pavilion concert venue, and offers spectacular views of the Cleveland skyline.
This four-level brick structure, known for its smokestacks and arched windows, was constructed in the late 19th century to provide energy to power Cleveland's electric railway and streetcar system. The structure, a National Historic Landmark, was totally renovated in the mid-1980s and is noted for its stylish arched windows and distressed brick walls.
